Maternity in the Mountains
Say it with me: PREGNANCY BRAIN IS A THING!!! I have literally had it like crazy this pregnancy. Here’s a perfect example of it: I literally remember writing this post…and posting the photos…and publishing this post…and turns out that was all in a dream. Like, a literal dream I had one night a couple weeks after we took these. And I thought that dream was real life so I honestly thought I had posted these 6 weeks ago…then I had a few DM’s on Instagram asking when I was going to post the rest of my photos from my maternity shoot, and I went to go give them the link…and it didn’t exist!! No post was ever made. I can only attribute that to a pregnancy dream occurring…because I truly remember posting this post lol. So freaking bizarre.
So anyways! Here’s my favorites from my maternity shoot!!! We shot these when I was 31 weeks along, and I knew I had a specific look in mind. I wanted a white flowy dress, and searched for weeks trying to find the perfect one that wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I finally found this one on Lulu’s, and it was just so perfect (and on clearance for $60!). It’s not a maternity dress, but it totally worked because it has an empire waist, and I am hopeful I’ll be able to wear it after pregnancy too. I also knew I wanted to wear my hair down and messy curly, but I also wanted to have some shots with it up in a messy bun as well, because I love the boho-style and I knew it would look so good with this style dress, and also because that’s how my hair is 97% of the time. So I curled it that morning, then halfway through I threw it up (without a mirror I might add, and I was super pleased seeing the results of it because I had no idea how it looked when we were shooting). I just knew I wanted it up and messy and romantic.
I woke up at 3:30am on Labor Day morning to get ready, and we woke up the kids and were headed up to Silver Lake by 5:30am. They were such troopers cause it was pretty darn cold (until the sun was out in full force), and honestly, this is the funnest maternity shoot I’ve ever had because Brett was the one behind the camera. I am always super at ease when he is the one shooting me. Those three are just real sweeties and are so dang supportive of all my crazy ideas lol.
So for your viewing pleasure…the photos:
