Dylan is Seven...
Well. It’s official. I feel freaking OLD guys! Like how in the world do I have a 7-year old?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m not okay! Like seriously! I remember the moment this little guy came out and changed our world, and the fact that that moment happened 7 years ago has me all kinds of sad, crazy and happy all at the same time.
He’s not only the sweetest kid you will ever ever meet, but he just has the funniest and most low-key personality of all time. He honestly is so good about just going with the flow and doing anything and everything we ask of him, whether it’s helping Baby or doing chores. He is just one-of-a-kind, and we know! We are darn lucky to have this spunky man forever and we couldn’t be more grateful for him!
We spent his birthday at home for most of the day since it was a Sunday (we went out and saw Incredibles 2 on Saturday to help make it more special). We got this kid his favorite breakfast (donuts of course!) balloons and a sign just for him, and let him open his present first thing in the morning. You see that ginormous Millennium Falcon in the photos below? Yeah. He’s literally been talking about wanting that ship for 4-months straight. Every single day we have heard about it and his dream finally came true! He couldn’t have been more excited! He loved playing with it all morning and sharing it with Baby too.
Then after church we headed up to one of Dylan’s favorite places: the mountains! He loves going there and exploring and throwing rocks in the creek and having a fire. So that’s what we did! It was a beautiful night (minus the 5-minute torrential downpour that happened out of nowhere) and we had hotdogs, s’mores, took his birthday photos and watched the kids play and throw rocks and explore. It was such a fun night getting dirty and just being outdoors!
Then we headed home and Dylan got to blow out his birthday candles on his chocolate cupcake, then he passed out 10 minutes later in bed because he was pooped from the day! He is ecstatic for his birthday party with his friends next weekend and is counting down the days!

Some of our favorites about Dylan:
- His tender heart. He has the most loving and accepting heart in the world, and loves to give love to everyone he meets
- He’s a total Momma’s boy, and I don’t mind at all! Please stay that way forever??!
- His little laugh is honestly meant for movies. It’s so perfect and can make me smile so big
- He still sleeps with his Pooh Bear at night (has since he was born) and I hope it never changes. It’s adorable!
- His favorite food is still Chicken Nuggets and fries, and has been for like 5 years now
- He is so sweet about babies! HE LOVES BABIES! When we told him we were having another baby he literally cried!
- He talks to this baby in my tummy all the time, and sings to it and kisses it morning and night. I turn into a puddle every single time!
- His favorite drink is Sprite, but Diet Coke is a close second
- He is a fierce protector of his Baby Levi, and also his best friend
- He loves school and can’t wait to go back! Never once have I had to coax or drag him to school. He is the one who is always rushing out the door to go and bouncing up and down to get there as we drive
- Star Wars is his life! He knows wayyyyyy more about it than I ever will
- He is super good at making friends, and is especially drawn to having friends that are girls
- He talks in the sweetest little baby voice to Levi and is always wiling to share, help him and hold his hand and constantly wants to be next to him
- He hates being dirty, and won’t touch something if it’s sticky
- He gives the best cuddles, hugs and kisses
- He tells me he loves me randomly at least 20 times a day (and has since he could talk)
- He is awesome at belting out music in the car
- He is doing awesome at reading! This kid made leaps and bounds this year at school and we couldn’t be more proud
- He was at the top of his class in Math

Dylan, we seriously are so lucky to have you forever! I can’t imagine life without your adorable personality, big hugs and your constant “I love you mom!” You are one of a kind, and whenever I look at you and your example, it makes me want to be better and more patient. You are the most patient person I know, and I admire you for that. You are so strong, yet so gentle at the same time. You are a friend to everyone you meet, and your obsession with anything baby is the sweetest! Your little brother is the luckiest to have you to look up to and learn from, and you are rocking the big-brother role! We love you more than words could ever say, and life would be so boring and terrible without you in it! Your smile brings so much joy into my heart, and I live for our morning-cuddles and snuggles. You are so incredibly smart and so good at trying your best to learn new things. Your zest for life and all the world holds is amazing to watch. We love you Dylan! Thank you for being you! And for being ours! Grateful doesn’t cut it when it comes to how we feel about you. You make our world so much brighter and we are so excited to continue watching you grow up! We love you!
