For the Hair: Salt Spray vs. Wave + Shine Spray
I discovered Sea Salt Spray a few years ago when I was trying really hard to make my hair get the beachy waves I would see, but my hairspray, gel and mousse (do people still use that?) wouldn’t do it for my hair. It would just fall flat after an hour and I’d be stumped.
Then, while scrolling Pinterest, I found this sea salt spray, and honestly, it changed the way I did my hair. It completely solved my issue of wanting to keep my waves/curls in tact, but more on the beachy side and not on the super done-up side. And I’ve been using it ever since.
But, as much as I love it, the one thing I don’t love about it is that it’s hard on my hair. It works, don’t get me wrong, but it makes my hair salty to a point to where I can’t really style it much after I use it because it’s pretty heavy. That’s why I don’t use it until day 7 on my hair (I talk more about going 10 days without washing my hair here).
So when I went to get my fabulous blowout at H2BlowDry Bar a few weeks ago, they asked me if I wanted to try a couple of products: R+CO Rockaway Salt Spray and the Oribe Wave & Shine Spray and to compare them and see which one I liked more. I was so happy to oblige, who doesn’t love trying new hair products? I decided to use one spray one day, then the next wash use the other spray, so I had a few days with each spray specifically to see how I really liked it.
So the first one I tried was the Oribe Wave & Shine Spray. I had never tried a this spray before so I as very intrigued, especially since the staff at H2BlowDry Bar raved about not only the brand, but the product as well.

I actually really really REALLY liked this spray! It went on so light and feathery, and didn’t dry my hair out at all, yet still had the same effect as a sea salt spray. After 3 days straight of using it to keep my curls in tact, stayed piecy and the curls lasted. It didn’t give my hair a little bit of grit that my sea salt spray does, and I love that. And the smell! Can we talk about it for a sec? It smells amazing! I’ve noticed that with all the Oribe products I’ve been trying.
After I washed and styled my hair again, I used the R+Co Salt Spray. I had never even heard of this brand before so I was pretty intrigued.

I really liked this one as well, although I noticed that on day 3 my hair was getting pretty darn dry with it, unlike the Oribe. I felt with the Oribe Wave & Shine Spray I could’ve gone even longer and my hair still would’ve been fine. The R+Co Salt Spray was great and smelled wonderful too (more citrusy and earthy), it just wasn’t as light as the other one was. And I am used to a heavier sea salt spray, so if I just had this on hand I wouldn’t mind, but the Oribe Wave & Shine Spray was so light on my hair, and still did the job that the R+Co Salt Spray did.
I honestly liked both sprays, but if I had to choose, I would buy the Oribe Wave & Shine Spray for sure. But, if you are on a tighter budget, the R+Co Salt Spray is great also. Just know your hair won’t last as long before another wash with it, and to most of the world, that’s probably just fine. But for someone like me, who goes as long as I do without washing, I like something I can use on my hair day after day and not worry it will make me have to wash faster.
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! We have a work party for my husband’s work tomorrow night, and I can’t wait! Second date night in 6 months, woot woot! Hopefully they start happening much more frequently than that.
